My name is Kennedi Williams and I am a freshman. I am from Atlanta, Georgia and I’ve been playing basketball for as long as I remember. Today I wanted to tell you about transitioning into my freshman year, but first here’s some background.
Like I said before I am from Atlanta, and I am the youngest in my family. I have three older brothers, the one directly older than me plays basketball but the others stopped after church league didn’t work out. Playing with my brothers and my dad taught me what I know today. My mom wanted me to be a dancer first but soon came around to my desire to play basketball. I continued with basketball playing in middle school, high school and AAU.
After committing to Liberty University, I was excited yet nervous to start my new journey. I didn’t really know what to expect coming into a new school. I heard a lot of things about Summer Bridge, but I still didn’t know what to think.
It turned out to be a summer I’ll never forget. In the summer, we made unforgettable memories and I met the people I spend the most time with now. We spent a lot of nights outside our dorms at the picnic tables just talking, making music, and playing games. We always had a good time. This summer allowed me to make some true friendships. The team was welcoming to us freshman and newcomers, they made us really feel at home. It also helped me have a smooth transition into my freshman year, because we had classes in June and July, which showed me what to expect when the fall semester started. It really made taking the step from high school to college so much easier and now that it's the second semester already, I feel like I'm getting the hang of all of this!
